An interactive learning mechanism for encouraging the strategic use of information systems

The strategic use of information systems has been identified as vital to continuing organisational success. However, it is important to enable managers not only to be aware of information systems opportunities but also to free them from their 'old thinking' about current information systems and the current role of information systems in the organisation. A structured and effective learning process is required to support managers (and organisations) in seeking ways in which to employ information systems strategically. This paper outlines a mechanism that aims to create an environment in which managers are encouraged to recognise the strategic value of information systems and to participate in strategy formulation.
